Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Free? Really? What’s the catch?
A: No catch. Okay, there is a catch…but it’s small. Your targeted goat grazing business will have to manually resubmit the form on this page at the beginning of every calendar year to stay on the directory. Why? Because in order to stay free, HireGoats.com needs to operate with minimal overhead. And, in order to be relevant to the public, the information in the directory needs to stay current and accurate.

Q: Next year is a long way off. How am I supposed to remember to resubmit?
A: We will send out reminders as the New Year approaches via mass email. To make sure these messages don’t get stuck in your spam filter, add the domain “HireGoats.com” to the “approved senders” list in your email platform. And, please make sure the “Administrative Contact Email” you provide in the form is one that will reach you.

Q: Who can create a listing?
A: Any business that is actively engaged in offering a professional service of vegetation management using goats, or goats and other livestock, can create a listing. If your business stops operating, we ask you to notify us so we can take down your listing.

Businesses that use goats only for purposes other than vegetation management (e.g. goat yoga, petting zoos, therapy, as pack animals, etc.) are not permitted on the HireGoats.com directory. There’s nothing inherently wrong with those businesses — they’re just not the purpose of HireGoats.com.

Q: Can I customize the way information is presented in my listing?
A: Yes and no. We want to present the brand of your business the way you prefer it. So if you want certain words in the name of your business to be capitalized, or the ® or ™ symbols to be used, include those when you submit your listing. Generally, though, we like to standardize the format of each listing as much as possible. Again, simplicity helps keep HireGoats.com free.

Q: Can I add a logo to my listing?
A: We are unable to present business logos within listings at this time.

Q: I have a website address and a social media page. Can I include both in my listing?
A: Your listing will only include one URL link. If you’d rather customers be linked to your social media page than your website, submit that link in the listing form where it asks for “Business Website”.

Q: My business operates in multiple states or provinces. Can I be listed in each of them?
A: If your business principally serves a metro area that straddles a state line (for example, the Kansas City metro in both Missouri and Kansas), or if the majority of your service area lies in a neighboring state from your home base, we’ll try to accommodate you. Please call this to our attention in the “Message/Comment” portion of the listing form as you prepare to submit it. However, if your service area covers the entirety of several states (e.g. “the western U.S.”) we will list you in the state where you are headquartered only.

Q: How will I know that a customer found me through HireGoats.com?
A: If a potential customer clicks the email link in your listing and sends you a message using the composition box that opens, the subject line will be pre-filled with the words, “Inquiry from HireGoats.com.” For this reason, we highly recommend that you include an email address in your listing.

This is far from perfect, as each email platform/browser treats email links differently. And, customers might choose to copy-paste your email address rather than click on it, or they may change the content of the subject line, wiping out any way to track it back to HireGoats.com. Still, we find this approach preferable to using creepy tracking software to follow your potential customers around the Internet.

Q: Who’s behind HireGoats.com and what do they get out of this?
A: Goats On The Go, LC purchased HireGoats.com in spring of 2023 from its creator, who was also an owner of a targeted grazing company. We (Goats On The Go®’s owners) greatly appreciated the contribution made to the emerging targeted grazing industry by HireGoats.com’s creator, and we wanted to see it continue.

We believe there is greater value in promoting the whole industry and presenting it professionally than in limiting public awareness of other vendors out of fear of competition. Put simply, we believe HireGoats.com has the potential to create a net increase in goat grazing customers.

Q: How do I get answers to more questions, or help with my listing?
A: Send an email to admin@HireGoats.com.
